Three suspects were charged with robbing three victims during a home invasion Tuesday on East Main Street, a Murfreesboro detective reported.

Darnelle L. Mayer, 38, of 617 Dill Lane, Lavarr S. Carney, 22, of Bradyville Pike and John E. Carter, 25, of 826 Hastings St. were all charged with three counts of robbery by Detective James Abbott.

Victims Matthew Bain, Dakota Rimmer and Autumn Depriest were sitting about 3 a.m. in the living room of the apartment.

“Three subjects entered the apartment and subdued them by force and then robbed them of items from their person and from the apartment,” Abbott reported.

“Dakota Rimmer had visible injuries to his head and arm from where the suspects subdued him as did Matthew Bain who had visible injuries to his face and head,” Abbott reported. “Autumn Depriest complained of pain in her neck and head.”

Paramedics checked her.

Officer David Miller reported the robbers took two cellular telephones, $300 cash and a MP3 player form Bain and a cellular telephone from Depriest.

About 15 minutes after officers responded to the robbery, Officer Mark Wood spotted three men matching the description of the robbers at Wal-Mart on Rutherford Boulevard.

Detectives took the victims to Wal-Mart where they identified the three men as the suspects, the detective reported.

While searching Carter, Abbott found in his left front pocket a ring inscribed with Rimmer’s name. Rimmer identified the ring as an item taken in the robbery.

Through his investigation, Abbott reported Carney indicated he drove the suspects to the apartment.

“John Carter also admitted to being involved in the robbery and that it was his idea,” Abbott reported, adding Carter told him he needed the money.

Mayer denied his involvement.

“The victims also gave statements that two of the suspects had bandanas covering their faces,” Abbott reported. “Two bandanas, one dark blue and one orange, were found on Darnelle Mayer’s person at the time he was taken into custody.”

During a warrants check, Abbott learned Carter was wanted for a parole violation because he apparently failed to register as a sex offender.

All three suspects were charged and booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set Nov. 6 in General Sessions Court.
