Three students receive TGCSA scholarships

Three Rutherford County students each recently received scholarships from the Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Music City Center in Nashville.

Evan Dunne of Smyrna was recently awarded a $1,200 scholarship. A graduate of Smyrna High School, Dunne attends MTSU and majors in Electronic Media Journalism. She is an employee at Publix and was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for academics and is a founding chapter member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

Nicholas Hardesty received at $1,250 scholarship. A graduate of Siegel High School, Hardesty will attend University of Tennessee Knoxville and major in Sports Marketing and Management. He works for Lewis Bakery, is an AP and honors student. He has participated in Pep Club, YoungLife, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and baseball.

Brody Laws of Murfreesboro was recently awarded a $700 scholarship. A graduate of Oakland High School, Laws attends University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and majors in Business Management. Brody is an avid participant in intramural basketball and flag football, and participates in church activities and church clubs on campus.

Thank you for recognizing these three Rutherford County Students who received scholarships through the Tennessee Grocers and Convenience Store Association. I congratulate all three students! I would like to make one correction to the article. The second paragraph refers to Evan Dunne as "she" but Evan Dunne is a "he." Again, thank you for sharing this achievement with your readers.
