Thieves steal jewelry, weapons, games

Thieves stole about $8,000 worth of jewelry from two homes during the weekend, Murfreesboro Police reported.

About $5,200 in jewelry was stolen from Horace Pearcy of Eventide Drive, Officer Anthony Skok reported. Jewelry missing included a two-carat diamond wedding band, six pocket watches, a ruby bracelet and two diamond and emerald pendants.

In an unrelated theft, Pamela King of Federal Court reported a black opal ring, a pearl ring with eight pearls, a pearl pendant and a gold herringbone chain stolen from her home.

King believes a relative could have taken the jewelry, the officer reported.

Burglars also broke into several houses during the weekend.

Officer Palmer Gibbs reported someone stole about $6,250 worth of weapons and collections Sunday from Laquita Rutledge of Lakeshore Drive off Southeast Broad Street.

Property taken included a 20-gauge shotgun, Remington rifle, another rifle with sling, .38-special snub-nose revolver, Smith and Wesson black pistol with wooden handles, Play Station game, Zippo collection and Case knives collection.

Officer Matt Manor reported burglars stole about $2,400 worth of property early Monday from Marcus Delaney of Shoshone Place.

Burglars stole a Wii console and controllers, Wii games, Toshiba laptop computer, camera/video, digital camera, Bluetooth headset, Regions Bank checkbook, birth certificate and a white gold necklace and cross.

In another burglary, Officer Stephen McGowan reported burglars damaged and stole $3,200 in property Friday night from Monica Worley of Woods Edge Drive.

Burglars stole a Toshiba laptop computer and data projector, digital camera, laptop, video camera, blue stone ring with a gold band and a sewing machine. Loss was set at $3,250.
