Thieves steal bulldozer, cash from Oakland baseball players

Thieves stole a $65,000 bulldozer and cash from Oakland High School baseball players, law enforcement officers reported.

The bulldozer, owned by Consolidated Utility District, was parked in a field near East Trimble Road near Milton, sheriff’s Deputy Ed Luther reported. It was padlocked.

Tracks showed where the bulldozer was moved with the vehicle turning toward Milton.

In another case, Murfreesboro Police Officer Shondale Clark reported burglars stole $608 from the Oakland baseball player’s wallets stored in the clubhouse Tuesday while the players were conditioning.

“The culprit apparently entered the clubhouse through the unlocked front door,” Clark reported.

In another case, Officer Daniel Parkhurst reported burglars broke into a Lexus owned by Cathy Hudson of Sulphur Springs Road, stealing more than $6,000 worth of property.

Hudson’s vehicle was parked Monday on West College Street when burglars stole her $4,000 Italian brown leather purse, an Italian green woven wallet valued at $1,500, $300 cash, reading glasses valued at $300, credit cards, checkbook, driver’s license and a $70 German compact mirror.

People who have information about the burglars may call Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information about the bulldozer, call the sheriff’s office at 898-7770 and for information about the burglaries call the Criminal Investigation Division at 893-2717.

Hudson’s vehicle was parked Monday on West College Street when burglars stole her $4,000 Italian brown leather purse, an Italian green woven wallet valued at $1,500, $300 cash, reading glasses valued at $300, credit cards, checkbook, driver’s license and a $70 German compact mirror.

Good Lord. A $4,000 purse? A $1,500 wallet? And all she drives is a Lexus? Seriously... does anyone think the thieves even know the value of the purse and it's contents. We can bet on it that the purse was dumped in a trash can or sold for the price of knock-offs.
