The Rutherford County Family YMCA proudly names John Floyd its 2010 Humanitarian of the Year.

Floyd is the fifth recipient of the award created by the Rutherford County Family YMCA board of directors to honor those in the community who give of their time, talent and treasure to make Rutherford County a better place to live.

Past recipients include Bob Parks, Jack Weatherford, Dr. Liz Rhea and Kitty Murfree.

The award is presented each year at a breakfast benefitting the YMCA’s We Build People campaign, which helps keep the Y available to all by providing financial assistance to those who otherwise could not afford the full cost of a membership.

We Build People dollars also help provide Rutherford County families with YMCA resources like affordable childcare, summer camp opportunities and swim lessons.

Floyd will be honored at the 5th Annual YMCA Humanitarian of the Year Breakfast at Stones River Country Club on Dec. 2.

Tickets for the breakfast are on sale now for $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10 and are available by calling (615) 895-5995 or by emailing Michelle Burtner at mburtner@ymcamidtn.org
