The Center for the Arts will open their 2010 Broadway in the Boro season with the beloved Disney Classic, The Jungle Book, directed by Michael McGee. The Jungle Book opens on Friday, Feb. 5 and runs through the 21st.

The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling was the last animated feature that Walt Disney personally supervised – he died during the production. There was a lot of worry about whether the Disney animation staff could make the film work without Walt, but when it was released in October 1967, The Jungle Book was a blockbuster hit. It’s winning combination of captivating characters, humor, drama and music – including the Shermans’ “I Wanna Be Like You” and Terry Gilkyson’s “The Bare Necessities” - has made it one of Disney’s most beloved animated features.

Deep in the heart of the Jungle, Mowgli (Zavior Phillips) the man-cub is raised by wolves, when Shere Kahn (D.J. Whittaker) the tiger decides that Mowgli is no longer welcome in the Jungle, Bagheera (Scott McPherson) the panther plans to guide him to the safety of the Man village. With a stunningly talented cast of 80+ children and teens, the Center for the Arts production of the Jungle Book will be a live performance like no other ever seen in Murfreesboro.

This classic tale will play at The Center for the Arts in Murfreesboro opening on Friday evening, February 5, 2010 at 7:00 pm, other performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm – through Sunday, February 21, 2010. As most Center for the Arts performances sell out quickly, we suggest reserving your tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are available by phone, online (at www.boroarts.org), and, availability permitting, at the box office. Tickets are $12.00 for adults; $10.00 for students, seniors (65+), and active military; and $8.00 for children (12 and under).
