Harmony Home, an eclectic shop filled with home décor and gift items, is now open in Murfreesboro.

Amy Simcik opened the second location of Harmony Home at 1103 NW Broad St. behind Demos’ Restaurant last week. She has operated a shop in Franklin for 10 years.

Simcik said her store is known as a one-stop shop.

The Murfreesboro store has a large garden section with garden accents and décor, baby and pet gifts and general gifts.

“We are really known for our lamps,” Simcik said.

The store also will carry artwork, several exclusive furniture lines and MTSU and Murfreesboro memorabilia.

Harmony Home is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Call the store at 624-6148.

The Craftsman Depot has changed things up this year, first changing its name from Millwork Design, then beginning to add to its retail offerings.

The shop, located at 905 Esther Lane, sells supplies needed by anyone doing remodeling work including the do-it-yourselfers.

Craftsman Depot carries a wide variety of hardware products from drawer slides and handles to door hinges and brackets. Prefabricated pieces such as bathroom vanities and kitchen counters also are available.

Craftsman Depot specializes in custom millwork. Anything from entertainment centers, shutters, bookcases, mantles to kitchen islands, vanities, interior and exterior arches and columns can be custom made.

What makes Craftsman Depot different is that they can build pretty much anything in any size, said Jason Fritts, who bought the company in 2002. He previously worked for 20 years at a truck dealership.

“We can match any style and make it look like it was made 100 years ago,” he said.

Craftsman Depot does both residential and commercial work, having completed many projects for hospitals and restaurants.

This year ownership of the Craftsman Depot shifted to Jason Fritts’ wife Norene, and daughter-in-law Michelle so the company could benefit from minority ownership.

A website showcasing Craftsman Depot’s custom work and giving the customers the ability to purchase items online should be up within 30 days, Fritts said.

“That is part of the business that we are trying to develop and push more than we have in the past,” he said.

The website will be located at www.craftsmandepot.com.

BounceU of Murfreesboro was recently recognized by the BounceU corporation for its community service.

BounceU of Murfreesboro, located at 1222 Park Ave., was recently awarded the BounceU Outstanding Community Service Award at the BounceU Franchise Convention in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Bill Brady, who owns the Murfreesboro franchise with his wife Trish, and Donn and Teressa Gear, said he was “pleasantly surprised” that his business won the award since all BounceU franchises give back to their respective communities.

“We were very proud that we were recognized among all of the store owners nationwide,” Brady said.

“We wanted to be a good neighbor not just a franchise that moved into Murfreesboro and was impersonal,” he said when the franchise opened in 2008.

BounceU gave back to the Boys & Girls Club by giving members free bounce passes after the center was damaged by a tornado last spring.

BounceU held open bounces following the Good Friday Tornado of last year and gave all proceeds to the Red Cross.

Hundreds of passes have been given to local schools to use as student rewards. BounceU also has held Make-A-Wish Foundation kick off parties before children have their wishes granted.

The award was given to the Murfreesboro BounceU for its exceptional support to the local community through efforts associated with creating positive media coverage, raising funds, creating awareness and the sharing of the BounceU core values.

The BounceU of Murfreesboro specializes in creating a private party experience, which is ideal for children’s parties, mom’s clubs, sports teams and other events featuring the latest interactive indoor inflatable equipment all located in a private bounce stadium.

It has held 1,500 private parties since opening.
