Three Blackman High School seniors are working together to create a public relations campaign for Double Tree Hotel.
The focus of the campaign is to raise funds and also promote Candle Wishes, a nonprofit organization, which provides birthday parties for children whose families can’t afford to give their children the birthday they want.
Each month, a local school, business, or program sponsors a birthday party for all the children whose birthdays are in said month. Local donors provide presents.
The campaign, led by Taylor Pollock, Jeremy Tice and Zack Parkhurst, included a breakfast buffet Oct. 23 at Fanatics. Half of the proceeds went directly to Candle Wishes.
Candle Wishes was chosen because it helps fulfill children’s dreams.
“Everyone wants what’s best for his or her child, and to make them happy,” the BHS team said. “However, in today’s economy, things may not work out as planned. Candle Wishes works diligently to keep our communities children happy for a brighter future. Likewise, The Double Tree Hotel constantly strives to support local nonprofit organizations and charities.
“It is amazing working with a business who cares for the community, serving charities such as Candle Wishes, Alzheimer’s and Rutherford County PAWS (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services),” said Pollock, co-chair of the public relations project. “The Double Tree has been open to all ideas, and will help this BHS DECA Public Relations Team grow professionally as young business leaders.”
