THE EDGE: Outreach Thrift reaches out with new store

ERIN EDGEMON, Post Contributor

Outreach Thrift recently opened a second location near the intersection of Southeast Broad Street and Rutherford Boulevard near Publix.

“It is something we have been needing to do for a long time,” said Assistant Manger David Scott. “We just needed to grow.”

He said Outreach Thrift needed to expand its presence in Murfreesboro because of all of the competition out there.

Funds from the new store will go towards a third project — training homeless people to work in the automobile industry. Outreach Thrift hopes in the near future to be able to train the homeless in automotive repair and have a small repair shop targeted toward low-income individuals.

“Hopefully, if the second store is successful that will be the next step,” Scott said.

The second store is much larger than the original store with some 5,000 square feet of shopping space.

Store hours are Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Call the store at 904-7755.

Outreach Thrift originally opened some 18 years ago. The original store at 810 N.W. Broad St. works with some 39 local agencies to give free clothing and household goods to people in need.

Master Tech Automotive has a new Bosch alignment machine with the newest innovations in alignment technology, the repair shop announced recently.

The machine has six cameras, which check six different angles on your wheels. Most alignment machines only have four, according to Master Tech.

A wheel alignment, put simply, is making adjustments to the car’s wheels so the wheels are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other.

What a wheel alignment will do:

• If your car is pulling to one side, an alignment can normally fix that. Occasionally other problems cause your car to pull to one side, such as incorrect tire pressure adjustment, certain types of brake issues, and some suspension issues.

• It will help ensure you get the best amount of wear time on your tires. Improper wheel alignment can cause a multitude of tire issues, especially uneven wear and “spots.”

What a wheel alignment will not do:

• Fix a vibration in your car. Wheel balancing issues, tire wear, certain brake problems and certain suspension problems can cause vibrations in your car.

Making sure your wheels are in good alignment can make a major difference in how long your tires last.

Master Tech Automotive is located at 1804 Memorial Blvd. Call the shop at 904-7700.
