Dooley’s Donut Café is now Get Sconed Bakery & Coffee Co., even though the sign hasn’t changed yet. Cathy Evans and her daughters, Julie Richards and Alicia Dodgion, took over the business located at 1875 Memorial Blvd. Aug. 1. In addition to doughnuts, the bakery serves breakfast from biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches to croissants, bagels and English muffins. At lunch Get Sconed offers a variety of sandwiches from chicken salad to cold cuts on fresh-baked bread, salads and individual pizzas. When the weather turns cold, the bakery will offer a variety of soups and chili in bread bowls. Evans, a baker, also makes a wide array of desserts from brownies, cookies and turnovers to cupcakes and birthday and weddings cakes. A selection of flavored coffees also is offered. “I had worked for Publix for almost 10 years in the bakery,” Evans said. “I decided I wanted to get out there on my own. I wanted to have a place where people could come and relax and have a coffee.” Evans said she wants Get Sconed to be a fun and upbeat place just like its name. Get Sconed offers free wireless Internet and a Nintendo Wii game system. Current hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 6 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Evans said Get Sconed has applied for a beer license to sell specialty beers. She hopes the business will soon be open to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. on weekends. For more information, call Get Sconed at 410-3528. ••• The Cedar Bucket Restaurant is finally open, said owner Rickey Turner. The remodel brought Wal-Mart customers an expanded electronics department featuring a wide selection of the latest consumer electronics and home entertainment. The new design includes a more hands-on experience for customers with interactive displays for hi-definition Blu-ray, video gaming and portable electronics. The interactive experience enables shoppers to test new technology including laptops, cameras, phones and GPS units before purchase.
