Just want to dance?

Well, there is now a new place to kick up your heels.

Dance Murfreesboro offers a variety of group dance classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. The ballroom dance facility is located at 730 Middle Tennessee Blvd. at the intersection with Park Avenue.

Each month different dance classes are offered. This month East Coast Swing, the hustle and Argentine Tango classes are being taught.

“We decided to open it because there really was nowhere to do ballroom dancing that was affordable and stable,” said Becky Ward, who opened the dance facility with her husband, Justin. “We opened a place for us and our friends to dance.”

From instructing dance at the now closed Tall Grass Dance Studio, the Wards knew there are many people in Murfreesboro who want a place where they can socialize and dance.

“It has just been fantastic because we have found that there are many people in Murfreesboro that want to dance but had nowhere to go,” she said.

More than 100 people attended Dance Murfreesboro’s recent grand opening event.

On the last Saturday of the month, Dance Murfreesboro holds a big dance beginning with a lesson at 7 p.m. and following with dancing until midnight.

All dances are $10 per person. Private dance lessons also are offered.

Construction on Tennessee’s first Culver’s restaurant is set to begin sometime this month, said franchise owner Joe Klingenmeyer.

The restaurant is to be built near Belk at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Maple Grove Drive. A groundbreaking ceremony is slated for April 2 at 2 p.m.

“Opening a restaurant is something that I have wanted to do for a long time,” Klingenmeyer said.

He became familiar with the restaurant from his frequent visits to Wisconsin. There are currently 418 Culver restaurants across the United States.

“The concept has been very successful wherever they have gone in the country,” Klingenmeyer said of why he is bringing the restaurant to Murfreesboro.

Evident by its number of restaurants, he added, “Murfreesboro likes to eat out.”

Klingenmeyer said every menu item is made fresh to order for the customer.

“The menu is very diverse,” he said. “They are famous for their ButterBurgers and frozen custard. A ButterBurger is simply that the crown of the bun is buttered and then it is toasted. That is where it gets the name ButterBurger.”
