A restaurant with some new flavor is now open in Murfreesboro.

Caribbean Legacy is located off Southeast Broad Street in the former location of Chef Raymond’s near Coach’s Grill. The restaurant opens today from 3-6 p.m.

“Murfreesboro is developing so fast,” said Jacque Trim, who owns and operates the restaurant with her husband, Paul. “You have people of all cultures coming here. (The restaurant) will add another flavor to the mix."

Caribbean Legacy offers a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere and a mixture of food with South American and Indian influences.

The restaurant will feature a bakery section with such treats as cheese rolls, beef patties and pintar.

Dishes include shrimp or chicken fried rice, black-eyed peas cook up rice and dhol rice with salted fish, an Indian influenced dish.

Trim, originally from Guyana (located next to Venezuela and Brazil), catered out of her home before deciding to open a restaurant.

“Most of the people who I cater for are always excited about the food,” she said, adding that they encouraged her to open a restaurant.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-11 p.m.

Kids Trading Co. is now open at 490 St. Andrews Drive, Suite 103 near Keller Williams Realty.

The consignment store sells high quality, gently used clothing, shoes, furniture, bedding and more for children.

Instead of having items on consignment, however, Kids Trading Co. buys the items outright from sellers or offers trade through the store, said owner Kristine Abshire.

Abshire moved to Murfreesboro four years ago from California. She owned a similar store on the West Coast. Her family moved to Murfreesboro after her brother moved to the city with the opening of the Verizon Wireless Call Center.

"We wanted out of California to provide a better family life for our children," she said.

Ever since moving to Murfreesboro she has wanted to reopen her store.

"It has kind of been a dream of mine," Abshire said.

Clothing in the store is available for preemies to size 14 or 16 for boys and girls. Brands include Gymboree, Carters, Old Navy, Rags Land, Kelly’s Kids, Abercrombie & Fitch and Limited Too.

The store also sells hair bows and candles.

Kids Trading Co. is now accepting items from the public.

Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Call the store at 895-4757.
