With many choices for music this year in the mid-state, the Boro Blues Festival will return once again to Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro on Sept. 23.

Prior to the main event, a benefit concert will be held in the Patterson Park auditorium on Saturday, Aug. 13.  Participating bands include Stones River Pilots, Top Shelf featuring Raymond Summerour, Firehouse Band and Zone Status.

The festival began as a an attempt to revitalize the community between the police force and the parks and recreation department noted original founder and board member Melvin Cunningham.

“It’s been going on for years now. With JazzFest and other events taking place, we want to give everyone a different taste of music,” Cunningham said.

For the show on Aug. 13, seats will be limited and are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The show begins at 6 p.m. and advance tickets can be purchased by calling 615-530-7204.
