Middle Tennessee women's tennis and first-year head coach Melissa Schaub have announced the 2011 spring schedule, featuring 10 home dates, including eight-in-a-row, Wednesday afternoon.
"This schedule is very competitive and will give our team a variety of challenges," Schaub said. "We face some quality opponents, both at home and on the road, and are looking forward to getting started in just a couple weeks."
The Blue Raiders open the campaign with back-to-back road matches at Belmont and Chattanooga before playing host to UT-Martin in the first home match of the year, Feb. 6, at the Nashboro Village Indoor Courts in Nashville, Tenn.
Middle Tennessee will return to the road for a pair of tough contests, facing Vanderbilt and Marshall away from Murfreesboro, before playing host to Murray State Feb. 18 in the second and final indoor match of the campaign.
After traveling to Mississippi for the fifth road match among the opening seven, the Blue Raiders will begin play on campus at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center March 5 against Louisiana. The meeting with the Ragin' Cajuns begins an eight-match homestand through the month of March, which also includes ULM (March 8), UALR (March 12), Arkansas State (March 18), Memphis (March 20), Denver (March 25) and South Alabama (March 27).
The final home match of the campaign will be April 3 when Middle Tennessee plays host to UAB.
The Blue Raiders conclude the regular season with three-straight road tilts, the last April 16 at Troy in Troy, Ala.
Middle Tennessee will then travel to Mobile, Ala., April 20-23 for the Sun Belt Championships. |
