Aggravated robbery and theft charges were filed against a 16-year-old girl Thursday after she and companions were accused of holding her former boyfriend at gunpoint Tuesday, a sheriff’s supervisor said.
Detective Steve Kohler charged the girl after an investigation, said Detective Capt. Preble Acton. She is being held in Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.
More charges are pending against two other suspects, Acton said.
Deputy Brad Lynn reported he responded Tuesday to the home of Leonard Cato, a Metro Nashville Police officer, whose 17-year-old son reported he received a phone call from his ex-girlfriend asking what time his parents would be home. He answered 8 p.m.
A few minutes later, Cato heard someone in his home. He confronted three people, two males and his former girlfriend, Lynn reported. One of the men ordered him to get down on the floor.
“Cato got down on his knees and the male kicked him in the right side of his face around his eye,” Lynn said. “Then, the male had him get up and walk into his bedroom at gunpoint.”
The man grabbed a pair of pants and wrapped the pants around his head, blindfolding him, the deputy reported. One of the men asked where his father’s firearms were located. The ex-girlfriend held Cato at gunpoint while they searched for weapons.
“The female said, ‘I am sorry about this’ and kissed Mr. Cato on the top of his head,” Lynn reported.
After they left, he called his father. He found his cellular telephone, a laptop computer and a box of checks were missing.
Sheriff’s deputies were patrolling more heavily in the neighborhood.
