Nashville - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is holding a candlelight vigil in Bicentennial Mall to honor the memory of Tennessee’s long-time missing children.
TBI’s website currently highlights a dozen children who went missing and remain missing even after their eighteenth birthdays.
In some cases, the children have been declared legally dead, but their disappearance is still under investigation and will remain active until they are recovered or their whereabouts discovered.
This event marks the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Bethany Markowski. On March 4, 2001,
Bethany went missing from the Old Hickory Mall in Jackson, Tenn. She was 11-years-old at the time and her family has not seen or heard from her since.
TBI is the clearinghouse for missing children for Tennessee and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. TBI is responsible for collecting and disseminating information to the appropriate law enforcement agencies about missing children as well as maintaining a file of missing children.
