Taste of Stones River ready Saturday for The Avenue

TMP Reports

People may sample signature dishes from more than 40 restaurants for as little as 50 cents a piece while supporting the Primary Care and Hope Clinic Saturday at The Avenue. The third annual Taste of Stones River event will begin with people buying 50-cent tickets at 3 p.m. with tasting between 4 and 8 p.m. Each food booth will require between one and five tickets to taste the dishes. Food ranges from sushi to chicken tenders. Tickets will also be required for children’s activities, including Space Walk of Murfreesboro, fire truck parties and events, face painting, moon walks and cotton candy.

Other events include live performances by Lavamen, Root Road and Tim James, said spokeswoman Stacy Dornisch. Root Road is comprised of three brothers writing and performing their music for seven years. Their music has a “feel good” rock-and-roll sound with a Christian message. They will be followed by the Lavamen whose music is self-described as finely tuned instrumental surf rock for the 21st century. Tim James is a songwriter who has written hit songs for Toby Keith, Bucky Covington and Trace Adkins. “The Taste of Stones River is not only a fun-filled family event, but also supports local charities,” Dornisch said. “This year, all proceeds from the event will benefit the Primary Care and Hope Clinic. In turn, they are able to use this money in their continued effort to serve the uninsured of Rutherford County. This is a wonderful opportunity to support your community while enjoying great food from area restaurants.” The clinic is unique in that it is the only facility in Rutherford County with a comprehensive program designed specifically to meet the medical needs of the uninsured. These needs encompass not only the physical examination, but provisions for lab work, X-ray diagnostics, medications and social services. Services include treatment for acute and chronic illness, well visits/physical exams, women's health, well child exams and immunizations.
