The La Vergne Board of Mayor and Alderman has voted unanimously to hire country legend T. Graham Brown as the headliner for the 2010 Old Timers' Day festival to take place on Sept. 18 at Veteran's Memorial Park in La Vergne.

Brown's show will begin at 4 p.m., after six other singers/groups take the stage. The other acts are to be announced after March 22. The concert is free and open to the general public. Tickets are not necessary for the show.

Among the songs Brown is known for are “Hell and High Water,” “Don’t Go to Strangers” and “Darlene”. His current CD, “The Present,” includes such songs as “Turn, Turn, Turn (To Everything There is a Season),” “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and You’ve Got a Friend.” A greatest hits collection, “Déjà Vu All Over Again,” was released in 2007.

This year’s festival will be the 39th for the city. Chamber of Commerce Representative Carrie Smith will be the grand marshal for this year’s parade.
