Suspects in Eagleville robbery get lawyers | Eagleville home invasion, Cecil and Edna Story

Suspects James Pittard and Ashton Garza are escorted to court after being accused of robbing an beating two Eagleville senior citizens.
Three men accused of beating and robbing two senior citizens at their Eagleville home were appointed attorneys during brief hearings Tuesday in General Sessions Court.

Suspects Ronald W. Damon, 36, of 901 W. Main St.; Ashton Garza, 19, of 5636 Constantine Dr., Rockvale; and James Charles Pittard, 20, of 2198 West Green Hill Road, McMinnville, were charged last Wednesday with especially aggravated burglary, especially aggravated kidnapping (two counts) and aggravated robbery (two counts) by sheriff's Detective Steve Kohler and Detective Bryant Gregory.

They were accused of beating and robbing Cecil Story, 86, and his wife, Edna, 93, who weighs 60 pounds during a home invasion Dec. 27 at their Eagleville home.

Members of their church attended the brief hearing where General Sessions Court Judge Ben McFarlin appointed attorneys to represent the three men who are being held without bond. A preliminary hearing is set Jan. 13.

Pittard’s father, Billy, of Murfreesboro, said he was “very surprised” at his son’s arrest.

“It’s not like him to do this,” Billy Pittard said. “He cars about elderly people. He got with the wrong bunch.”

Pittard said he will support his son who supported him when he was “the biggest drunk in Murfreesboro.”

“I will be there throughout and I will be here when he gets out,” the father said.

The father warned his son he ran with the wrong crowd.

“Maybe it took this for him to hear what God is doing in his life,” the father said. “This is not God leading him.”

I am so glad they caught the suspects!! Strange a 36 year old is running around with a 19 and 20 year old. And NO bond!! YEAH!

Maybe this time (this crime) the judge will hand out more than 45 days.

These low life bottom feeders deserve a charge of attempted murder with the maximum sentence allowed by law. Nothing less.

Kudos to the cops for nabbing these absolutely disgusting cowards.

What thugs and dispicable human beings. I'm sorry, this isn't a "mistake" or "lack of judgement" or any other excuse criminals use...it is pure evil.

FYI, the green and white striped uniforms means they checked themselves into PC (protective custody), where most of the child molesters end up to prevent from being beaten. These guys are good and scared, as they should be!

Sometimes they have no choice and the booking officer checks them into protective custody because of rumors lingering and threats. It will be interesting listening to what caused the police to track these guys down. I can't pass judgement at first. It's still innocent until proven guilty in my book, even though Rutherford County thinks otherwise. They will get a public defender that asks them to pleade guilty and pay a fine and go to jail. I sure hope they got the right ones and if they did, I hope they rott in jail.

If they don't have criminal histories, I don't think they will get much (if any) jail time.

These are serious felonies and this crime has really rallied the community. They will definitely do time.

If bail bondsmen are refusing to make bail, my respect for them changes...way to go...

you people make me think of what jesus said when they were crucifying him. "father forgive them for they know not what they do" God knows what went on and who was involved and he'll have justice on the right ones.
