A Rutherford County man accused of trying to solicit online a minor for sex was arrested Wednesday, a sheriff’s detective said.

Suspect Richard C. Simoni, 48, of Crescent Road, was charged with solicitation of a minor, especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and providing obscene materials to a minor, said Detective Mickey McCullough.

Simoni was accused of online soliciting a 14-year-old girl between September and November, McCullough said.

“He requested her to send nude pictures of her via electronic means and solicited her in sexual intercourse,” McCullough said.

Simoni was booked at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and later released on $50,000 bond. A hearing is set Nov. 18 in General Sessions Court.

He listed his employment at On the Run Market on state Route 96 West (Franklin Road) and Sam’s wholesale club on John Rice Boulevard.

This idiot is the reason why we have to be monitored online! If it was my daughter, he would have never made it to jail. Just send an ambulance and a hearse while I eat a biscuit and mustard, you sick puppy!
