Suspect charged with asking minor for sex acts | Kim S. Sargent, child pornography, solicitation of a minor

Multiple counts of soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex were filed Tuesday against a Williamson County computer consultant, a sheriff’s detective said Thursday.

Suspect Kim S. Sargent, 55, of Franklin was charged with six counts of solicitation of a minor, six counts of providing obscene material to a minor and two counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, said arresting Detective Mickey McCullough. More charges may be pending.

McCullough’s investigation began in June when Sargent began communicating with a 14-year-old girl in a social networking chat room.

During the six-month computer communications, Sargent told the girl about his family, phone number and profession.

“He acknowledged the age of the girl on numerous occasions during the six months he solicited the child in various sexual acts,” McCullough said. “Also, he requested her to perform nude through Web cam transmissions or pictures.”

Sargent allegedly asked the girl to send him pictures of her naked and clothed though email, the detective said.

McCullough and Detective Ralph Mayercik arrested Sargent Tuesday at his home. With the help of Franklin Police Detectives Brett Kinss and Stephanie Cisco, they served a search warrant on his home where they seized several computers.

Franklin Police will check the computers for child pornography.

Sargent was booked in Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and was released on $60,000 bond. A hearing is set Jan. 20 in General Sessions Court.
