Victory Cantrell
Police charged a suspect with aggravated assault with a firearm after a shooting Friday on State Street, a Murfreesboro Police spokesman said.

Suspect Victory Cantrell, 30, of 902 Hunt St. was charged with shooting victim Tarontae King, no age or address available, said Maj. Clyde Adkison.

King was shot during a dispute about 3:45 p.m. Friday. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Police located Cantrell about 8 p.m. on Chamberlain Avenue. He was brought to the police department for an interview with Detective Chris Ashley.

“He did admit to shooting the victim,” Adkison said. “The alleged shooter’s weapon has not been recovered as of yet.”

Motive of the shooting is undisclosed, he said.

Cantrell was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He was released on $50,000 bond. A hearing is set Aug. 19 in General Sessions Court.

Let me get this straight, he shoots someone and admits to it, the person may die. And we release him on bond in a few hours. And very cheap bond at that. We hold people on failure to pay two weeks child support on a bond at that amount.
