Suspect charged in Feb. 14 SunTrust bank robbery | BANK ROBBERY

Ashley Laron Gooch
Murfreesboro Police charged a suspect Monday with robbery of SunTrust Bank Feb. 14 inside the Kroger on East Northfield Boulevard, the spokesman reported.

The man wearing pink cloth gloves demanded money from a teller inside the store. A bank camera captured his photograph.

After an investigation with FBI, suspect Ashley Laron Gooch, 21, of 1416 Bradyville Pike was identified as a suspect, questioned by detectives and charged, reported spokesman Kyle Evans.

Gooch was previously arrested nine times in the past two years with charges ranging from sale of marijuana, violation of probation, driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where a hearing was set April 7 in General Sessions Court.

As long as thugs like this keep getting out of jail via the revolving door, we as a community are in trouble. If the state weighed the cost of keeping these lowlifes locked up vs the cost of continuously invesyigating, arresting, trying (probably paying public defender as well), incarcerating even for the short time they are locked up, IT WOULD BE CHEAPER JUST TO LOCK THEM UP AND MAKE THEM SERVE THEIR ENTIRE SENTENCE! (Not to menttion the deterrent factor of knowing you wil do real time in jail.)

I agree wit you in some ways but then again i know there are problems with the economy but even before this problem i felt that the reason for a lot of these "thugs" keep making the wrong decisions is because they cant get jobs because they are felonies and if they cant take care of themselves or their family then what else do they do. One thing i can say is that he wasn't trying to hurt nobody if you seen his picture in the paper you see he didnt have a weapon.Dont get me wrong i know this was a bad thing to do but I know this child and i know that he had been trying to change his life he had given his life to God and he was always asking for special prayer for a job but thats still not a reason for no one to do things like that but i really wish there was a way they could help these kids instead of always downing them because after all they are human too.

perhaps a little more time praying, and less time thugging around. sick of the "its the economy"

rg, we don't lock people up for life for driving on a suspended license or possession of marijuana. Pretty much every single person currently incarcerated WILL be released some day. Maybe we should focus more on rehabilitation instead of punishment.

Well perhaps he will have a longer time to do more praying but i still hope that one day soon there will be ways for these kids to be able to get out here and work without being judged and a lot of people judge other people kids mainly because they dont have any or because they have kids and they kids is so perfect or they just havent been caught.

Give me a break!! This is a career criminal who should be on a chain gang for a few years. Then he might actually consider a life that does not include banging and breaking the law.

ok your break is granted and yes he may be a career criminal but you never know one day you or someone you know may have to walk in his shoes and not to mention he may be the person you have to look up to one day and thats not being smart thats the truth because you never know the way things work these days you never who is who and what is what but if God say thats where he want you then thats where you will be so just kinda watch what you say about people.

Ever heard of punctuation? As to looking up to this thug, that will NOT happen in this lifetime. I have no respect for those who apologize and make excuses for this type of behavior. There are plenty of people in this country who are suffering far more, and you don't see all of them becoming criminals.

The young lad was just wanting to "share the wealth". It's lots easier to steal than work for a living. There are jobs out there! Sure, they are low paying, but they are jobs.

By: enoughisenough on 2/25/09
Oh, he will have a job now!! His on the 'job' training will be quite an experience for sure...

This young man has been in the system for years and has been offered many services. He chose to continue making poor choices.
