Early Tuesday morning Murfreesboro police responded to a call for an attempted burglary at Clean Threads Super Laundry on Greenland Drive and discovered the business had been vandalized.

According to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report, Officer M. Powers found damage to a change machine, snack vending machine, coke machine and a door.

"I also observed the suspect using a hammer and crowbar attempting to break into (a vending machine)," Powers reported.

Video surveillance found a suspect, described as a white male, possibly 6 feet tall, between 260 and 300 pounds, who appeared to have a mustache. At the time of the incident, he was recorded wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

MPD spokesman Sgt. Kyle Evans said the suspect tried to break into the office of the business before turning his attention on the vending machines.

"The subject did extensive damage to the business and several coin (and) dollar changers along with vending machines," Evans said, adding the Police Department is hoping someone will recognize the suspect and come forward with information about his identity.

Anyone with information should call Detective Tommy Massey at 615-893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 615-893-7867.
