A suspect accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s mother’s home during an argument admitted the burglary and asked deputies to “take me to jail,” a sheriff’s deputy reported.

Deputy Nathan Devers complied with the request by suspect Johnny Short Jr. and took him to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he charged him with burglary, domestic assault and vandalism.

Victim Favian Osborne told Devers she and Short got into an argument about Short still being involved with his child’s mother. Osborne asked him to get away from her but he refused. She went to her mother’s home where Short demanded to talk with her. She called the sheriff’s office for help.

Osborne accused Short of breaking the window to enter the home and stealing her wallet and GPS, the deputy reported.

When Devers arrived, Short yelled to take him to jail, “Yes, I busted the window out. I did everything she said. Just take me to jail.”

Short told Devers his hand started bleeding when he broke the window. He was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center before being booked into the jail.

A hearing on his charges is set June 25 in General Sessions Court.
