A 20-year-old man told police a man kidnapped him and stole $50 cash Wednesday on West Northfield Boulevard, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Victim Joshua Whalen of West Northfield Boulevard was asked by a man in his apartment complex for a ride to another complex in the Kingwood Avenue area, Officer Patrick Rottero reported.
Once inside the car, the man asked to use Whalen’s cell phone and he agreed. When he finished the call, the man placed the phone into his own front pants pocket and “exposed what was believed to be a black handgun,” the officer reported.
Before getting his phone back, the man told Whalen he would have to do some things. The man directed Whalen to drive to Vine Street.
“The suspect stated that he had to drop off some weed (marijuana),” Rottero reported. “The suspect made two stops distributing marijuana and then demanded money from Mr. Whalen.”
Whalen gave him $50 cash and was able to get away.
No charged have been filed.
