Murfreesboro police are investigating a near-fatal crash that took place Sunday night on Rutherford Boulevard.

Joey Evans, 27, of McMinnville was attempting to cross Rutherford Boulevard near Mercury Boulevard when a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Alan Stewart, 25, of Lebanon, struck him.

Preliminary investigation shows Evans walked into the path of the vehicle.

Evans was transported to MTMC and later admitted to Vanderbilt Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The MPD FACT team is currently investigating the crash.

WHAT? The headline says 'seriously injures' while the story says 'a fatal crash ' and 'struck and killed him.' It then goes on to say 'admitted to Vanderbilt Hospital with life threatening injuries.' So...which is it? The OTHER paper says injured.
