Story tellers make reading fun Tuesday at Smyrna Library

TMP Reports

On Tuesday, June 16th, Smyrna Public Library is pleased to host story tellers Ken and Gail McDaniel as they teach kids that reading can indeed be fun.

As a part of the Be Creative @ Your Library Summer Reading Program, Ken and his wife Gail McDaniel will tell and act out stories from some of their favorite books. Coming adorned in a tuxedo Ken McDaniel and his wife Gail, who is an artist and painting instructor, plan to pump kids up for reading through audience participation.

Ken and Gail McDaniel call Franklin home, but Ken’s connection to Smyrna goes back to 1944 when his dad was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base. Ken worked for years as a book salesman for Border’s Books, but is now devoted to promoting literacy in schools and libraries. He and Gail are both active in fundraising for area schools.

This program will be held in the conference room of Smyrna Public Library on June 16th at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The program is free and open to the public.
