Smyrna – The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense, has presented StoneCrest Medical Center with the Patriot Award.
The award recognizes employers who go above and beyond the requirements of the federal law in supporting their National Guard and Reserve component employees. George Flemming, security officer at StoneCrest Medical Center and a soldier with the U.S. Army Reserve, nominated StoneCrest for the Patriot award. Flemming wrote in his nomination form, “StoneCrest continues to provide assistance to me and soldiers stationed with me by always sending care packages and calling my family to inquire about needs. “Stonecrest employees became a second family for me.” Flemming submitted the nomination at Campy Shelby in Mississippi after a 400 day deployment to Iraq. Brad Baker, director of plant operations, and David Gammon, security supervisor, led the employee military support initiatives. Baker says “this award is a great honor and really recognizes the overall culture of giving at StoneCrest.” The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. Its mission is to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve. Local ESGR committee members, Bob and Ann Beatty, presented Brad Baker and David Gammon of StoneCrest Medical Center with the award. |
