The average time a StoneCrest Medical Center patient spends in the Emergency Room reception area continues to decrease with the hospital’s current average being a little more than 10 minutes, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced last week.
Even though the number of patients at StoneCrest continues to grow, the hospital has kept wait times well below the national average of one hour.
“During the second quarter of 2008, the average time for a patient to be seen by a triage nurse at StoneCrest is only 11 minutes, in addition to an average of 22 minutes from the time a patient enters the ER until they are seen by a physician,” stated Vinnie Bonadona, director of Emergency Services at the hospital. “I am unaware of another area hospital that takes care of patients as efficiently as our team while maintaining patient satisfaction scores within the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide,” continued Bonadona.
StoneCrest CEO Neil Heatherly knows wait times and quality of care are the two key differentiators of emergency rooms.
“We know that these two distinguishing factors – wait times and patient satisfaction – work in tandem to ultimately have a dramatic effect on a patient’s overall satisfaction with their hospital experience,” Heatherly said. “Therefore, our focus in the ER is process improvement and a team-oriented approach to always improving patients’ experiences.”
StoneCrest Medical Center, a member of the TriStar Health System is located at the intersection of Interstate 24 and Sam Ridley Parkway.
