Stepson arrested for attempted murder

The son of a local pastor has been arrested for the October assault of his stepmother.

Tamir Clark, 22, of Front Street in Smyrna, was arrested for the Oct. 29 attempted murder of Latorcia Clark, who was found beaten and tied up in a burning car.

Tamir Clark was charged with attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping when he was arrested Friday in Smyrna.

On Friday, Oct. 29, Stanley Clark, pastor at True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, returned home from a high school football game to find his wife bound by zip ties inside a burning car.

Police arrived on scene and found Latorcia Clark, 46, conscious but injured. After her husband removed Clark from the car, it became fully engulfed in flames.

Clark told her husband that she was hit over the head and then dragged to the car.

Tamir Clark allegedly dragged her to the car used zip ties and shoe strings to tie her hands and arms together. When the culprit tried to start the car and couldn’t, he fled the scene.

How very sad. What could possibly justify leaving someone to suffer such a horrible death? Thankfully the victim was rescued from her intended fate and the person responsible in where he belongs. Let's hope he remains there for a very LONG time.
