Stephen, with all due respect, no. You got to grow up on music from the 80's? I'm sorry. The 80's was one of the worst decades for any kind of artistry. Very few innovative artists emerged from this time, possibly because of all the fumes from the hairspray. What you fail to understand is that although MTV and the radio does play corporate selected, watered down pop music, this is by no means an indication of the state of the music industry. My generation must dig deeper to find the good stuff, but we have the tools to do that that you never did. We have the ability to hear of a great artist like Radiohead from our friends, and within five minutes be listening to In Rainbows on our ipods. For the love of music, sit down with your child and show him Ryan Adams, not Bryan Adams. If you want scorching guitar solos, go to youtube and look up a video of Derek Trucks or John Frusciante. If you want some good rock n roll to boogie to listen to Z by My Morning Jacket. If you want good pop music then listen to John Mayer and Norah Jones, not Rick Springfield and Madonna. Stephen, go to Bonnaroo this year, go to Wakarusa or Coachella, for it is at these places you will see the error of your thinking. We have more bands, we have better bands, and we have the ability to transfer all of this great music to anyone we want. So don't feel bad for us; we humor you. Our generation has music covered. We don't need your help.
