State removes restaurant scores from website

Health inspection scores for restaurants across Tennessee are usually posted on the state’s website, but they’ve been missing for more than three months now.

Shelly Walker of the Tennessee Department of Health’s Communications Office said that the scores are still available, but the state isn’t currently able to put them online.

“They haven’t been taken off,” Walker said. “We’re having an issue with our contractor that provides the database we use for those records, so they’re temporarily unavailable.”

The state had a contract with Garrison Enterprises, a North Carolina-based company that offers data management software, to provide the database for their records, but the contract expired back in July.

“They’re trying to work that out now,” she said. “As soon as they get that worked out, they’ll be back up online.”

Walker said anybody who wants to know a restaurant’s inspection score is welcome to call the health department in the county where the restaurant is located.

To find the score of a particular restaurant in Murfreesboro, contact the Rutherford County Health Department at 898-7880.

SO, how can we now find out these scores without actually going to the restaurants and searching out the supposedly conspicuous postings of said report before we eat? And if you don't think that's such big deal, then, just for giggles, look at their score after you eat!!!

Did you read the article? It tells you, very clearly and concisely how to find out what the scores are. Read the last two paragraphs.

They are not having a problem with the website...the person responsible for renewing the contract with Garrison simply didn't renew the contract as they were supposed to. The funny thing is that all the scores and data are still being sent to a contractor that isn't publishing the information. Crazy huh?
