State Guard to change command Saturday



A formal Change of Responsibility ceremony for the command of the Tennessee National Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at National Guard Headquarters, 3041 Sidco Drive in Nashville.

Major Gen. Gus L. Hargett, Jr. will pass responsibility and command of the Tennessee National Guard to Brigadier General Terry M. Haston. Brig. Gen. Haston will also be promoted to the rank of Major General at the ceremony.

Brig. Gen. Haston has served as the Assistant Adjutant General-Army since 2008. He is a former Commander of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Training, for the Tennessee National Guard.

Maj. Gen. Hargett retired from the Tennessee National Guard on Dec. 31 after more than 47 years of military service. He is currently serving as president of the National Guard Association of the United States in Washington, D.C.
