Chocolate toffee bars

Every now and then, a splurge in the diet is needed.

One of my favorite ways to splurge is with chocolate, of course.

These chocolate toffee bars are simple to make, and the best part is, you probably have most of the ingredients on hand.

Even when I am splurging, I still like to make sure I am using quality ingredients. If you are eating sweets, it is always best to make sure the ingredients used are real, not overly processed.

That is why this is such a great recipe. You know exactly what you are eating.

This is a great way to feel good about a delicious treat for you and your family.

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup all purpose flour
3 ounces dark chocolate, chopped  or chocolate chips
1/3 cup toasted nuts

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, and then add in brown sugar and vanilla, and stir for about 30 seconds.
3. Turn off heat and add in flour and salt, stirring until a play dough
consistency forms.
4. Press dough into a greased 8-inch baking dish and bake for 15 minutes.
5. Top evenly with chopped chocolate, and then bake another minute.
6. Spread melted chocolate evenly and top with nuts.
7. Allow it to cool to room temperature, and then chill until the chocolate hardens.
8. Cut into squares or triangles, and enjoy.

Lots of local shops make and sell toffee. Sure wish you would mention options for those who do not want to make it. Plus, think of all the possible advertisements you could generate for the Post.
