Several Nashville songwriters are banding together to raise money on behalf of Greenhouse Ministries for tornado relief.

MusicCircle Inc and singer/songwriter Trisha Fogle are holding the benefit concert at The Limelight at 201 Woodland St., Nashville on Tuesday, May 19 beginning at 6 p.m. to further Greenhouse Ministries efforts to provide aid to the victims of the Good Friday Tornado.

The event will feature songwriters who have penned hits for the likes of George Strait, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride and Chicago.

Donations are encouraged with a $10 suggested minimum donation.

“We are just thrilled that they decided to do that,” Leslie Mertz, program director for Greenhouse Ministries, said of MusicCircle’s desire to hold the benefit. “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Murfreesboro and now Nashville.

“It will be a huge blessing,” she said.

To date Greenhouse Ministries has helped 31 families for a total of 93 people pay deposit and first month’s rent on apartments. Now, the nonprofit organization is helping homeowners pay their insurance deductibles.

Any tornado victim can seek assistance from Greenhouse Ministries, Mertz said.

Greenhouse Ministries is located at 410 W. Lytle St. Call the organization at 494-0499.

MusicCircle Inc is a music performance and promotions company owned by Susan Greene and Beatriz Diaz. Fogle is an Oklahoma born singer/songwriter who now performs regularly in Nashville.

“What really sets Nashville apart from many other high profile cities is how closely the community works together, especially in a time of crisis,” Diaz said. “We have experienced this in the past with songwriters, performers, residents, and businesses coming together to contribute what resources they can … to help in recovery and relief efforts throughout neighborhoods.

“There is such a sense of love and genuine appreciation within the Nashville community which is once again evident in the outpouring of support we have received in coordinating this benefit with Trisha,” she said.
