Michelle Fowler is proud to announce the opening of her counseling practice located at 1134 Dow Street.

Fowler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in helping people to overcome stress and obstacles that prevent us from celebrating our relationships and our lives.

She works with individuals who are at least 13 years of age and older (including seniors), as well as with couples and families who want to move beyond fighting and enjoy one another again.

Holding more than 20 years of experience in her field, she assists individuals struggling with conditions including (but not limited to): depression, anxiety, abuse/trauma, self-esteem, anger, caregiving, grief, loss and change, addiction, family discord, communication, relationships, and chronic pain or illness.

“You come to therapy with your own personal needs, strengths, and unique goals," Fowler said.  "My approach to helping will reflect your individuality and be tailored to your specific situation. You can count on me to be compassionate, understanding, non-judgmental, and to offer you my honest and professional insight to help you be successful.”

Fowler graduated from Syracuse University with a Masters in Social Work and has been licensed in Tennessee since 2001. She has worked in both hospital and outpatient settings with literally thousands of people - all with their own struggles, unique strengths and personal goals for their lives.

She is the President of the Board of Directors for the Rutherford County Psychotherapy Association, a member of Leadership Rutherford through the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, and is an active volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association (in memory of her grandmother). She has been a support group leader, has trained many area professionals on topics related to mental health, and has been a speaker for many local groups and at larger conferences.  Fowler moved to Tennessee in 1996 and lives in Christiana with her “best friend and husband of nearly 20 years,” along with their two sons.

She is currently welcoming new clients and accepts many insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Magellan) and Medicare. She offers a free telephone consult. An appointment can be made by calling her office at (615) 624-4494.
