Smyrna Police nab burglary suspects in act

Smyrna Police captured a suspect after spotting him exiting a vehicle he allegedly burglarized recently, the spokesman said.

On November 30, 2008 Officer Kyle Hyde was patrolling about 11:45 p.m. in the area of Noel Lane and Mason Tucker Drive in Smyrna, reported Sgt. Bobby Gibson. He observed a suspicious subject closing the door of a vehicle at a residence on Vernon Traylor Drive.

When Officer Hyde attempted to make contact with the subject, the subject fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the subject was apprehended and taken into custody. The subject, Cameron A. Tidwell, possessed of many items believed to have been stolen from vehicles in the area, Gibson reported.

Other officers on the scene were advised of another subject, Tadelro D. Conley, was hiding in a storage shed behind another home on Vernon Traylor Drive.
Officers made contact with the Conley, inside the shed and he was in possession of items believed to be stolen as well.

Officers made contact with several residents and discovered that the items in the suspects’ possession was taken from their vehicles.

Tidwell, 18, was charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt and arrest, theft under $500 and three counts of burglary of an auto. Bond was set for $21,000.

Conley, 18, was charged with criminal trespass, theft under $500 and three counts of burglary of an auto. Bond was set for $10,000.

Hearings are pending in Smyrna General Sessions Court.
