A Smyrna man was charged Tuesday with rape of a Virginia woman Aug. 1 at the Sandston, Va., weigh station on Interstate 64 near Richmond, officials reported.
Elvis A. Frazier, 42, of Smyrna, was charged with rape from Virginia, and being a fugitive from justice when arrested by Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies.
The Henrico Citizen of Richmond, Va., reported Frazier was arrested during a visit with a probation officer at the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole in Rutherford County.
A 40-year-old Fredricksburg woman told Virginia State Police she met Frazier in an Internet chat room in July, the newspaper reported. She arranged to meet Frazier at the closed weigh station Aug. 1.
Frazier is expected to be extradited to Virginia to face the charges.
