Smyrna High sets orientation

Freshman orientation is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Smyrna High School for all ninth graders and their parents.

The orientation will begin with students and parents directed to homerooms where they will complete registration information cards and will receive their class schedule. In order for students to become familiar with the building, they will follow their schedule spending approximately 10 minutes in each class.

Each club, organization, sport and musical group will have a display in the hallway to provide information on membership requirements, activities and meeting times. During this time, students may rent a locker for $2.

Registration for grades 10 through 12 – plus any ninth grader who did not attend on Aug. 5 – will be 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8. School buses will run that day. Student council members will conduct new student tours at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8. All new students will report to the library for the guided tours. Lockers may also be rented for $2 that day.

On Friday, Aug. 22, the Smyrna High Bulldogs football team will begin the season in hopes of defending their “back-to-back” 5-A State championships by traveling to Murfreesboro where they will face the Siegel High Stars. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs’ first home game is 7:30 p.m. versus Brentwood High.

Smyrna’s freshman team will begin its season at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 by playing host to Siegel High.

The Lady Bulldogs soccer team will begin its regular schedule in Clarksville at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26. The first home game is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 against Wilson Central.
