NEW ORLEANS - Will Skinner helped power the Middle Tennessee to three victories last week and the Sun Belt office took note, awarding him Middle Tennessee's first Sun Belt Player of the Week award this season.
The honor is the first of Skinner's career and comes on the heels of Hunter Adkins' Pitcher of the Week award last Monday, which was also the first of the season for Middle Tennessee.
Skinner was an offensive powerhouse for the Blue Raiders last week, knocking out three home runs, scoring seven runs and batting in another seven. The Murfreesboro native hit .526 for the week with an impressive 1.105 slugging percentage and a .591 on-base percentage.
After going 4-for-7 with three runs scored and a homer in two games against Memphis earlier in the week, Skinner was key in a big home series against visiting ULM over the weekend. The senior was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and three runs scored in Friday night's win and helped seal the series victory with a 2-for-4 day with a two-run blast on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders will look to build on the momentum over the weekend on a Tuesday with a game at in-state foe Tennessee in Knoxville. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
