Someone fired several rounds at an occupied house and two suspects were charged on drug offenses this week, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Jason Robinson of Battle Avenue heard the sounds of gunshots in his area about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday off of Bridge Avenue, Officer Palmer Gibbs reported. Police found several shell casings at the home but were unable to locate any witnesses.

In an unrelated case, Officer Bryant Mitchell stopped driver Ryan Grayson for driving without a seat belt early Wednesday on Middle Tennessee Boulevard.

Grayson gave the officer consent to search his car. Mitchell found a backpack containing a pipe for smoking marijuana. He also located more pipes, a white substance that appeared to be methamphetamine and a set of digital scales.

Passenger Joshua Brown, 25, of Murfreesboro told Mitchell he owned the backpack.

Mitchell charged Brown with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His hearing is set June 1 in General Sessions Court. Grayson was cited for driving on a suspended license.

In another drug case, Sgt. Harry Haigh charged suspect Develle Kanoew Barton, 19, of East Sevier Street with felony possession of Schedule I drugs, felony possession of Schedule IV drugs and felony possession of marijuana. His hearing is set April 6 in General Sessions Court.
