THOMPSON CREEK, Tenn. – Shofner’s Lutheran Chapel will hold its annual decoration day Saturday and Sunday at the church between Shelbyville and Tullahoma on U.S. 41-A at Thompson Creek.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Richard Quinn will present a historical talk on lands surrounding the chapel, at 11 a.m. there will be an organizational meeting, including reports and recommendations, and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. there will be a float and cleanup along a portion of Duck River titled Don’t Much the Duck.
On Sunday, an early service will be held on a hill behind the chapel (attendees should wear sneakers and follow signs beginning at the chapel). An organ prelude will begin in the chapel beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the main service will follow led by Pastor Bill Hethcock of Sewanee, Tenn.
Special music will be provided by the Mount Zion Haley Baptist Church Choir, Jesse and Markham Shofner of Nashville and Chris Shofner of Shelbyville.
The service will be followed by dinner on the grounds. Those who attend are invited to bring a favorite entree’, salad or dessert. The annual associational business meeting will follow.
