The Rutherford County Sheriff's Department has released the following statement Monday about a shooting of an armed suspect Saturday on Bradyville Pike in Kittrell.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations identified the victim as Honduran Elmer Isrrael Raymos, 28.

This statement was released Monday:

Both deputies involved have now completed post-traumatic stress counseling following an officer-involved-shooting Saturday in the 9800 block of Bradyville Pike.

They remain on administrative leave until TBI completes its investigation and report its findings to District Attorney General William C. Whitesell Jr.

Patrol Deputies Trey Nunley and Nathan Devers responded to the scene Saturday making contact with the armed suspect at 11:11 a.m.

The suspect was fired at twice by Devers when he attempted to stab Nunley with one or both of the two long metal spikes he had refused to drop. The shooting occurred at 11:23 a.m.

We do not know if both shots struck the suspect. We cannot verify the name of the suspect that has been released is in fact his true identity.

Deputy Sheriff Joe “Trey” Nunley III, 33, was hired as a detention officer on Dec. 27, 1999 and promoted to Patrol Division deputy sheriff on Jan. 6, 2006.

Nunley was certified as a law enforcement officer on Aug. 4, 2006, by the state’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission based upon completion of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy’s Basic Police Training School.

He has also received certification in Officer Survival and Communications Spanish I &II.

Nunley received a letter of commendation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his part in the apprehension of three armed bank robbery suspects who’d fired on citizens during the May 9, 2006, robbery of the AmSouth Bank on Old Fort Parkway and a subsequent carjacking. The suspects were captured after a high-speed pursuit and were not injured.

RCSO Deputy Sheriff Nathan Devers, 30, was hired Sept. 11, 2007. Devers was previously employed for just under a year as a deputy by Cannon Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Devers was certified as a law enforcement officer on May 25, 2007 by the state’s POST Commission upon completion of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy’s Basic Police Training School.

Devers received a letter of commendation in 2008 for helping find where a domestic violence subject charged with aggravated assault upon his spouse had discarded a loaded high-powered rifle in a Rutherford County neighborhood.

What could they have been thinking when they let Lisa M go. She was the only one who did any real reporting.

Bradyville Road is not in Kittrell is on John Bragg Highway.

Bradyville Road is the road that goes to Bradyville. John Bragg Highway goes to Woodbury. You will go through the Kittrel community is you are traveling on Bradyville Road, so I can see the confusion.
