A store clerk who was allegedly robbed at knifepoint Thursday obtained the license plate number of the suspect as he drove away, allowing Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office detectives to locate the man in less than 15 minutes.

After being nabbed by detectives, 31-year-old Jonathan Ownby, of Esquire Court, was charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the incident that occurred at Lascassas Market, according to a press release.

Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin said the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and a package of cigarettes. As the suspect left, the store clerk obtained the license plate number of the getaway car and gave the information to Deputy Michael Moody. Telecommunicators gave deputies the owner’s name and address.

Detective Steve Brown responded to Esquire Court within 14 minutes, where he found a car matching the description of the suspect’s car parked at Ownby's home, located off Compton Road in Murfreesboro.

A team of patrol deputies and detectives apprehended Ownby and took him into custody.

They took him to the Sheriff’s Office to be interview, and he later was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

A hearing has since been scheduled for set Monday, March 11, in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
