Charges may be pending against a Clarksville convicted sex offender accused of kissing an 11-year-old Rutherford County girl recently, a Rutherford County detective supervisor said.

Sex offender Jody Lee Lindsey, 46, of Clarksville met the girl’s mother on a chat line and visited with the mother and her two daughters, ages 11 and 9, in Rutherford County, said Detective Sgt. Mickey McCullough. He bought the girls gifts like toys, tiaras, paper airplanes, magazines and jewelry.

“As he was leaving the mother’s house, he kissed the 11-year-old and stuck his tongue in her mouth,” McCullough said.

The sheriff’s office was contacted about the encounter and identified the suspect as Lindsey. A check showed he was a convicted sex offender from Montgomery County who was wanted for violating the state’s sex offender registry law, McCullough said.

“He has a lengthy criminal history including manslaughter and sex crimes, including aggravated sexual battery wit the victim being a 12-year-old girl,” McCullough said. “He is a violent sex offender.”

Montgomery County authorities obtained arrest warrants against Lindsey. Information about the warrants was given to the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.

Rutherford County Detective Chuck Thomas, who is assigned to the task force, said the task force officers located Lindsey last Friday. He is being held without bond in Montgomery County.

McCullough said he is considering filing charges against Lindsey involving his actions with the 11-year-old Rutherford County girl.
