Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold said people who intend to drink New Year’s Eve should select a designated driver ahead of time or call a cab.

“Don’t drive drunk,” Arnold said.

Patrol Commander Jacoby O’Gwynn said extra deputies will be working New Year’s Eve to conduct bar checks in the county and patrol the county roads looking for intoxicated drivers.

Last year approximately 10 people throughout the county were booked with DUI charges, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that high-risk populations for drinking on New Year’s Eve include people under age 21, ages 21-34 and repeat offenders.

Motorists who see a drunk driver may call the sheriff’s office at 651-898-7770.

Awww, postlooker22 you beat me to it! But, I'll say it again. "Don't drive drunk! Unless you can get some of that 'professional courtesy'.

That was an easy set up from Robert Arnold. Why would he say tha,t like he didn't just let one of his own go for the same thing hes out hunting for.

Gotta love professional courtesy

I think this article was aimed at all the RCSO deputies and the SRO's in particular. Arnold is warning them that he's already gotten a black eye on this issue and doesn't want another one.
