Three suspects accused of holding a mother and her three children at gunpoint and firing rounds at Murfreesboro Police were indicted by the grand jury during the September term.
Defendants Kendall Harding, 20, of Medford-Campbell Boulevard, Joseph J. Nolen, 21, of Jackson Street and Deshawn Scarbough, 18, of East Castle Street were charged with attempted first-degree murder of Murfreesboro Police Officer Marja Atchley, who responded to the call May 8 on Battle Avenue.
They were charged with aggravated assault of mother Elisha Thompson and her three children after holding them at gunpoint, aggravated robbery after demanding money, drugs and guns, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and evading arrest.
The three defendants were among seven defendants indicted on attempted murder charges this month. About 168 defendants indicted will receive copies of their indictments beginning at 9 a.m. Monday from Circuit Court Judge David Bragg.
Another set of indictments charged defendant Michael Sparkman of Riviera Drive with attempted first-degree murder of victim Jose Louis Morales-Vaquerano.
Sheriff’s Detective Scott Tillman accused Sparkman and three other men of abducting Morales-Vaquerano, robbing him at gunpoint and shooting him in the stomach and leg on Coleman Road.
In another case, defendant Jhamar T. Hinds, 19, of Antioch, was charged with attempted first-degree murder of victim Montez Sparkman, Officer Bryan Anderson reported. Sparkman allegedly ran beside Sparkman’s vehicle and fired several rounds at him. Two rounds struck the vehicle, including one round found in the driver’s headrest.
Another indictment charged Corry Mossor, 22, of Lyles, Tenn., with attempted murder of Shanna Kitchen Dec. 24 at Imperial Gardens in Smyrna.
Smyrna Police Detective Angela Istvanditsch accused Mossor of kidnapping Kitchen and assaulting her by hitting her with a wooden board, causing numerous severe bruises on her face, arms and leg. Mossor allegedly threatened to take their 20-month-old son.
Defendant Cassidy Crockett, 20, of Exeter Drive was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault of Paula Burton.
Murfreesboro Police Officer Dave Norton reported Crockett allegedly grabbed a steak knife and slashed Burton twice April 22.
In another case, driver Jerry D. Brown, 45, of Nolensville, was indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle of Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Smith, DUI (seventh offense), evading arrest with an auto, reckless endangerment and driving on a revoked license.
Brown led Williamson County deputies in a pursuit into Rutherford County where Smith and Cpl. Brian Wright joined the chase July 8. Smith accused Brown of pushing his patrol cruiser during the chase.
In another case, bondsman Matthew A. Garrett was indicted on one count of aggravated assault.
An aggravated robbery indictment charged Christopher D. Keil with the hold up of Domino’s Pizza June 21, Murfreesboro Detective Richard Presley reported.
