Sertoma District Governor-elect, Murfreesboro Sertoma Interim President Michele Bufford, District Governor Tom Bruce and Senior Vice President of Sertoma Inc. John Kerr were on hand Monday at a kick-off luncheon Monday.
Local Michele Bufford organized a kick-off luncheon Monday for Sertoma (Service to Mankind), an organization that helps the less fortunate with hearing and speech impairments.

Sertoma’s primary focus is on assisting the more than 50 million people with hearing health issues and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health.

In order to achieve these goals Sertoma has undertaken a multi-faceted approach by launching programs that address both the treatment and prevention aspects of hearing health.

These initiatives include SAFEEars!, S.H.A.R.P., Communicative Disorders and Hard of Hearing and Deaf Scholarships, Adopt-an-Agency, and Community Grant programs.

Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs, as identified by the individual clubs.
