A second man was arrested early today in Chicago in connection with the double murder three weeks ago in the Walmart parking lot off Old Fort Parkway.
Working with Chicago authorities, Murfreesboro Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives apprehended Demetrius Coleman, 21, around 10 a.m. today in Chicago, according to an MPD statement.
He is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 29 shooting deaths of Andre Chesterfield and Latre Lillard whose bloodied bodies were found lying in the store parking lot next to their vehicle.
After Murfreesboro detectives obtained warrants Wednesday for Coleman’s arrest, he was taken into custody with the help of the Chicago Violent Crimes Task Force and Chicago Police. He is awaiting extradition in Cook County jail.
Also charged in the double murder is Danarius “Chicago” Coleman, 19, of 1619 Double Tree Lane in Nashville.
Murfreesboro’s Criminal Investigations Division Violent Crimes Unit and Gang Unit worked with the Metro Nashville Police SWAT team to take Coleman into custody without incident early this month.
